The WeatherBeater & Vaccu-Stack take advantage of the Venturi Effect. They are both constructed of two concentric hoods, which surround the chimney opening. The hoods are positioned so the adjacent bands overlap, and so the unit presents a spherical image to the wind regardless of the wind direction.
When the wind blows, the air is forced around the unit rather than though its openings. This creates the Venturi Effect at the top of the chimney. The pressure inside the chimney is decreased and Brenoulli’s principle goes to work, forcing gas in the chimney up towards the top, increasing the draft. The harder the wind blows, the more draft will increase. And it doesn’t matter which direction the wind blowing!
